Pad printing (also pad-printing or padprinting) uses a thick silicone pad to transfer the image to be printed from a photo-etched pad printing plate (or cliché), inked via a doktor blade system or inkcup, to the surface of the product or part to be decorated, also called the substrate.

The pad makes contact with the product using just the right amount of pressure to deliver the image. Because the pad-printing pad can wrap itself as much as 180° around a small object, ink coverage is excellent, making padprinting an ideal decorating method for small items that are contoured, irregular in shape or otherwise difficult to print on.

Pad Print Machinery of Vermont's pad printing machines - available as standard models, automated pad-printing systems and custom padprinting solutions - allow for printing of up to eight colors simultaneously. Cupslides are available on most padprinter models and can accommodate images up to 43.31” (1100mm).

Some models have feature such as independent pads or warm air ink drying. They are available with rotary, step-by-step, elliptical and linear feeders/conveyors. Our padprinting inks allow for printing in any possible color and on a wide variety of surfaces, including glass, ceramic, coated surfaces, real & imitiation leather, wood, ferrous & non-ferrous metals, paper, polyester, textiles and a wide variety of plastics [including Celluseacetate (CA) / Celluseacetate Butyrate (CAB), Duroplas (EP/MF/PF/VF/UP/UR), Polyamyde (PA), Polyacetal (POM), Polyethylene (PE) / Polypropylene (PP), Polycarbonate (PC), Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), Polystirene (PS)-ABS-SAN, Polyurethane (PU) and both rigid & plasticized PVC].

We offer padprinting pads in cylindrical, square/rectangular and linear pad shapes or as custom, specially-designed shapes to meet your needs.

Our pad printing plates are available in nylons, alcohol & water-wash polymers and thick or thin steel — the cost of which includes hole-punching. Our plate department offers cliché-making services and quantity discounts are available.
