Medical Inks Available

Pad Print Machinery of Vermont responds to Medical needs

EAST DORSET, VT [September 6, 2007] - Responding to the needs of the medical industry, Pad Print Machinery of Vermont announces the availability of both Class VI and Class I USP certified inks.

"Our customers who print on catheters and other medical devices wanted to buy their inks from us in addition to their pad printing machines, pads and plates," said Julian Joffe, president of Pad Print Machinery of Vermont. "Going forward with the certification process was something we felt we needed and wanted to do for our customers."

Four specific pad printing inks have passed the required Biological Reactivity Tests for USP Plastic Class VI; they are: PLTF Black and PLT4 in Black, Blue and Yellow. These two ink series adhere to a wide variety of substrates, and are certified for use with their corresponding hardeners and/or thinners.

USP Class VI certification is required for any products or devices that will have prolonged or permanent contact with broken skin, blood, tissue, bone or the circulatory system.

Six colors of the pad printing ink PLT4G - which is recommended for many plastics, glass, ceramic, and metals - have been certified for specific outside-the-body medical uses by passing the required Biological Reactivity Tests for USP Plastic Class I. The colors are: Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, White and Black with their corresponding hardener and thinners.

USP Class I certification is required for any products or devices that will have limited contact with mucosal surfaces (such as dental instruments that do not break the skin), or contact with intact skin.

Pad Print Machinery of Vermont is dedicated to responding to the needs of its customers, not only in the areas of ink certification, but in landmark pad printing technologies such as the one-hit 360-degree catheter printer, the new in-line high-speed Elektra and customized automation solutions.
